We want our Lucerne-based businesses to feel at home here, which is why Business Development Lucerne takes an active interest in the wellbeing of the canton's top 100 employers. Only by knowing their needs can we succeed in keeping them here and offering them a business environment that's fit for purpose in terms of competing on the international stage.

 

The top 233 employers were selected through a process that involved cantonal councillors and took account of headcount, turnover, success, potential, opportunities/threats and regional political importance – this in consultation with all of Lucerne's municipalities. What this means in concrete terms:

 

• Visiting 110 companies (and counting) since April 2006 
• Maintaining ongoing contacts with these companies
  
• Pursuing a reactive, task force-based development policy
  
• Tasking the municipalities with addressing the other companies
  
• Gathering key data based on a set of guidelines and compiling a summary report

 

The feedback we obtain is fed into an impact audit, which in turn helps Lucerne develop as a business-friendly location.
