Tax Reductions in the Swiss Cantons of Geneva and Lucerne
On 27 September 2009 citizens in the cantons of Geneva and Lucerne accepted improvements in tax law and tax reductions for corporations and individuals. As of 2012, Lucerne will have the lowest Swiss-wide corporate tax rate. The main changes are outlined below.

Expat Brit brings New World wines to Lucerne
Well-travelled Englishman Paul Hopkins opens a shop in Lucerne specializing in New World wines and is determined to eliminate the snobbery typically associated with oenophiles. Hopkins establishes “Vintage and Vine” after taking an indirect route to Switzerland: he got to know the country after working as a consultant for an Australian winery, whose owners just happened to be Swiss.

Innovationdays 2009 – The World of Paper Processing met in Lucerne
15 years ago, Hunkeler staged the first ever Innovationdays as a small, in-house fair with some 300 visitors at its headquarters in Wikon. Today, this industry meet-and-greet can be counted amongst the world’s most important trade event. Four years ago, due to steady growth, the venue moved to Lucerne, where this year’s show took place between February 16 and 19.

HOCHDORF Group achieves turnover and milk processing record
Over the past business year the HOCHDORF food group has once again exceeded the milk processing record of 295 million kg of milk set in 2007. The new record now stands at 360 million kg (+21.8%). Non-consolidated gross sales came to CHF 393.3 million (CHF 328.0 million in the previous year), an increase of around 20%. As already announced, growth in profit will not be able to match growth in sales.
